Terms & Conditions
1. General Information
These Terms and Conditions apply to all tours, activities, and services operated by Thru Iceland.
By booking or participating in a tour with Thru Iceland, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions. Thru Iceland reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. The applicable version will be the one published on our website at the time of booking.
2.Bookings
A booking is considered confirmed once payment has been received and a confirmation email has been issued.
Customers are responsible for providing correct booking information, including the number of participants, contact details, and selected tour date. Please review your booking confirmation carefully. If any information is incorrect, contact us immediately so it can be corrected.
3. Prices
All prices displayed on the website are listed in Icelandic Krona (ISK) unless otherwise stated.
Prices include applicable taxes unless specified otherwise.
Thru Iceland reserves the right to adjust prices due to circumstances beyond our control, including changes in government taxes, fuel costs, or currency fluctuations.
Once a booking has been confirmed and paid, the price will not change.
4. Payment
Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed. Payments can be made through the payment methods available on our website. A booking is not considered confirmed until payment has been successfully processed and a confirmation email has been issued.
5. Cancellation by the Customer
If a customer wishes to cancel a booking, the following cancellation policy applies:
Private Day Tours
- For cancellations made at least 48 hours prior to the tour date, a 90% refund will be issued.
- For cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the tour date, there will be no refund.
All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email (info@thruiceland.com).
Refunds will be issued using the original payment method whenever possible.
6. Changes to Bookings
Changes to bookings may be possible depending on availability.
Requests to modify a booking should be made as early as possible. Changes requested shortly before departure may not always be possible. If a change results in additional costs, the customer will be responsible for paying the difference.
7. Changes or Cancellation by Thru Iceland.
Thru Iceland reserves the right to modify itineraries or cancel tours when necessary due to circumstances beyond our control.
These may include, but are not limited to:
- Severe weather conditions
- Unsafe travel conditions
- Road closures
- Natural hazards
- Environmental conditions
- Other unforeseen events
If a tour must be cancelled for safety reasons, we will attempt to offer an alternative date or suitable replacement tour. If this is not possible, a full refund will be issued.
8. Safety and Participant Responsibility
Outdoor activities in Iceland involve inherent risks due to weather conditions, terrain, and natural environments.
By joining a tour with Thru Iceland, participants acknowledge these risks and agree to follow all instructions given by the guide.
Participants are responsible for:
- Following the guide’s instructions at all times
- Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear
- Informing the guide of any relevant medical conditions
- Acting responsibly to ensure their own safety and the safety of others Thru
Iceland reserves the right to refuse participation to any person whose behavior may endanger themselves, other participants, or the guide.
9. Alcohol and Drug Policy
For safety reasons, the use of alcohol or illegal drugs before or during tours is strictly prohibited.
Participants who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be refused participation in the tour.
In such cases, no refund will be issued.
This policy is in place to ensure the safety of all participants, especially during outdoor activities such as glacier hiking, hiking in remote terrain, and highland travel.
10. Liability
All tours and outdoor activities are undertaken at the participant’s own risk. Thru Iceland cannot be held responsible for:
- Loss or damage of personal belongings
- Injuries resulting from participant negligence
- Delays caused by weather or external circumstances
- Costs related to travel disruptions such as flight delays or cancellations
Participants are responsible for ensuring they have adequate travel and personal insurance.
11. Weather Conditions
Weather conditions in Iceland can change rapidly and may affect planned itineraries.
Tours may be modified, postponed, or cancelled if weather conditions are considered unsafe.
Your safety is our highest priority, and decisions made by guides regarding safety are final.
12. Force Majeure
Thru Iceland cannot be held liable for failure to perform services when such failure is caused by circumstances beyond our control.
These may include but are not limited to:
- Natural disasters
- Volcanic eruptions
- Extreme weather conditions
- Government restrictions
- Public health emergencies
- Transportation disruptions
In such cases, we will attempt to reschedule the tour or offer alternative solutions whenever possible.
13. Privacy
Personal information provided during booking will only be used for the purpose of managing reservations and delivering services.
Thru Iceland does not share personal information with third parties unless required to fulfill booking services or by law.
14. Laws and Legal Venue
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Iceland.
In the event of a legal dispute arising from these Terms and Conditions or services provided by THRU ICELAND, the case shall be brought before the South Iceland District Court.
